Newfoundland At Armageddon

SHELL SHOCK

Shell shock was first diagnosed during the Great War. Today we know it as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Its physical symptoms (psychosis, involuntary twitching and trembling, immobility of some limbs, etc.) are linked to emotional trauma. Patients were given electroshocks, but these treatments rarely had a long term effect.
